Over 200 international XR experts came to Berlin to discuss XR innovations, XR art and XR projects as part of NUMIXLAB. The XReco project was presented by XRBB in Berlin as one of the EU-funded projects.
Exploring the Future of Extended Reality with XReco
XR experts from 20 different countries made a 5 days journey to Munich, Leipzig, and Berlin and visited over 25 creative places and studios. The final destination of the inspiring tour was Berlin on November 28 and 29, 2024, co-organized by XRBB (Extended Reality Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.), a member of the XReco consortium, who oversees the project’s communications.
The two-day program took place at the Institute Français at the Kudamm Berlin, which became a hub of innovation and inspiration for over 150 international participants. The Berlin event featured 20 presentations, discussions, XR exhibitions, and networking opportunities. Among the highlights was the presentation of the XReco project by Finn Kortenbrede, Managing Director of XRBB.
The audience was introduced to the 5 pillars of the EU-funded XReco initiative:
- Content Discovery and Reuse
- 3D Reconstruction
- 3D Human Representations, Holoportation, and Volumetric Videos
- Authoring Tools for 3D and AR Productions
- Content Sharing and Licensing
At the end, participants were encouraged to sign up for the XReco prototyping tests planned for 2025. As many content creators and XR artists were present, this opportunity was met with great interest. This is because XR artists and content creators will benefit greatly from the innovative tools that XReco is developing.
Networking in an Immersive Atmosphere with XReco
On the evening of November 29, XRBB hosted a networking event at Berlin’s Studio 1111, where attendees connected in a relaxed setting surrounded by immersive wall installations by Berlin based artist Jens Blank. In adjacent rooms, participants explored additional XR installations and engaged in conversations with XR professionals from around the world.
