XReco is redefining digital content creation and monetization by combining asset management, flexible licensing, and secure payments in a single platform. With AI, Smart Legal Contracts, and blockchain integration, creators retain full control over their work while turning sharing into a sustainable revenue stream

How XReco will Revolutionizing the Monetization with AI and Blockchain

XReco aims to redefine the way digital content is created, shared, and monetized by offering a platform that seamlessly integrates asset management, monetization, and rights protection. At the heart of this ecosystem are two core components: the Orchestrator and the Marketplace.

The Orchestrator allows users to upload and search for digital assets, leveraging both connectors to various repositories (such as Wikimedia, Sketchfab, Europeana, and Deutsche Welle) and advanced Artificial Intelligence tools for reconstructing 3D assets. The Marketplace, on the other hand, facilitates the publishing and distribution of assets. Users can choose to make their content available for free under Creative Commons licenses, or enable monetization via the CC-Plus model, which allows commercial use of assets upon payment.

This is made possible through two main components: the Rights Management and the Monetization Manager. The former ensures transparent digital rights management by combining technologies such as Smart Legal Contracts and Blockchain, while the latter handles financial transactions and integrates with Stripe for payments.

The Role of the Monetization Manager

The Monetization Manager is a backend component that automates the entire economic flow related to publishing and selling assets on the Marketplace. Although not directly visible to users, it plays a crucial role in handling transactions, linking with the Rights Management system for license processing, integrating with Stripe for payments, and distributing revenues to asset creators.

The process begins when a user uploads an asset through the Orchestrator. At this stage, a license chooser guides the user in selecting the most appropriate license based on their intended use.

The author can then choose to publish their asset in two ways:

  • Under a free Creative Commons license, selecting from available variants (such as CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, CC-BY-NC, etc.), thereby allowing non-monetized distribution.
  • Using the XReco Licensing scheme that combines CC-BY-NC and CC-Plus licenses. This enables free sharing for non-commercial use while unlocking monetization for commercial purposes. In this case, the asset is published with a dual license: non-commercial use is governed by CC-BY-NC, and commercial use is permitted behind a payment managed under the CC-Plus contractual terms.

The XReco Licensing And Monetization Process

Once the asset is published, users interested in commercial use can purchase the CC-Plus license. At this point, the Monetization Manager generates a checkout link specific to the asset through a payment service such as Stripe. The buyer is redirected to a secure Stripe-managed payment page, where credit card data are handled, ensuring that XReco does not need to manage sensitive credit card data, thus maximizing privacy and security.

After payment is completed, the Monetization Manager calculates revenue shares for the rights holders, applies the service fee, and distributes the remaining amount to the respective author’s Stripe accounts. The system uses Stripe’s “collect then transfer” model, where funds are first collected by the platform and then automatically allocated. Stripe fees are covered by a portion of XReco’s retained service fee, with no extra charges for buyers or sellers.

For each commercial transaction, an “XReco Purchase Receipt” is automatically generated. This is a Smart Legal Contract containing details such as the identity of the parties involved, the purchased asset, amount, date, and time. The SLC is then registered on the blockchain, serving as a verifiable record of the purchase.

Integration Between Monetization Manager and Rights Management

XReco’s asset monetization process goes beyond the technical handling of payments. Every financial operation is closely tied to the legal framework of the platform, thanks to a direct integration between the Monetization Manager and Rights Management.

This connection ensures the overall consistency of the platform. When a user publishes an asset and selects a license, whether free or monetized, Monetization Manager automatically triggers the associated Rights Management services. The asset and its usage terms are registered and managed via a modular stack of interconnected components.

Every step is seamless from the user’s perspective yet ensures full synchronization of all components. This high level of integration allows XReco to offer a verifiable and transparent transaction process, with licenses and purchases notarized on the blockchain.

XReco’s Licensing scheme: CC-BY-NC and CC-Plus

As previously discussed, XReco’s licensing scheme is built on a model that enables both free distribution and monetization of assets. This is achieved using two complementary components:

  • CC-BY-NC license: which prohibits commercial use of the asset.
  • CC-Plus license: a contractual extension that allows the author to enable commercial use. This license complements the free license by defining additional terms for unlocking commercial rights through payment.

It’s important to note that the CC-Plus license does not alter the original Creative Commons license. Non-commercial use remains freely available under the CC-BY-NC terms, while commercial use is contingent on the purchase and acceptance of the CC-Plus contract. This model allows creators to maintain full control over how their assets are shared and monetized, promoting visibility through free sharing while generating revenue from commercial use.
